The Staff Union invites you to read the message from the UNOG Staff Coordinating Council “Gaza” below and encourages all colleagues to join this event :

Dear Colleagues,
As you may be aware, we have lost 11 UN colleagues in the current conflict in Gaza. These staff, as you may have read in the media, have gone out of their way to protect the civilian population, turning their schools into shelters and doing their best to cater to their needs. For their heroic deeds, they have paid the ultimate price, with their lives.

In order to express solidarity with our colleagues and their families in Gaza, we are organizing, together with the staff or other international organizations in Geneva, a short ceremony on the Place des Nations, this Thursday at 1 p.m. There will be brief speeches on the lives and work of these colleagues, as well as readout of their names and a minute of silence.

Cher(e)s Collègues,
Comme vous le savez probablement, nous avons perdu 11 de nos collègues des nations Unies dans le conflit actuel à Gaza. Ces personnes, comme vous avez pu le lire dans les médias, ont fait tout leur possible afin de protéger la population civile, en détournant les écoles en abris de fortune et ont fait de leur mieux pour répondre à leurs besoins. Pour leurs actes héroïques, ils ont payé le prix ultime...

Afin d’exprimer notre solidarité envers nos collègues et leurs familles à Gaza, nous organisons, en collaboration avec le personnel des autres organisations internationales à Genève, une brève cérémonie sur la Place des Nations, ce jeudi à 13 heures. Il y aura de brefs discours sur la vie et le travail accomplis de ces collègues, une lecture en leurs noms ainsi qu’une minute de silence.
